In complete contrast to some of my solo days out, 17 skiers and a snowboarder took advantage of the CIC Hut on Ben Nevis for some late season skiing. The weather wasn't perfect, but it was raining so hard on Saturday morning that it was actually funny. Sunday was much better (i.e. drier), and we could see what we were skiing on, which was handy.
With queues at the top of some of the gullies to rival scenes from a new Ikea delivery depot in Aberdeen, it was a strange but fantastic experience. Watching skier after skier pile into Number 3 Gully on Saturday in the mist, making their first and probably steepest turn of the weekend, then shoot out the exit was quite something. All the numbered gullies saw full or partial descents, and Tower Gully saw mass descents on both days. A fine way to finish my skiing for the season.
