It seemed like most of the ski starved population were heading for Aonach Mor this weekend, keen to have a high ski to walk/skin ratio. Steve and I did a long day trip from the East to do the same, and met up with Dave, Neil and Tom. The first descent of the day down Spikes was superb, and worth the drive alone. A skin up the ridge alongside Summit Gully produced some comical moments. Marians had been in the sun too long, so wasn't as enjoyable as Spikes, but worth doing. A descent of Easy Gully, and a traverse into the shade resulted in a powder find, despite the temperatures. It was so good, that I had another shot after people drifted off, and had a race to get the Braveheart chair before it shut. |
